I recently faced a tight deadline: creating a 5-minute presentation on an AI program in just 15 minutes, all while collaborating remotely with other classmates.
Our team, consisting of Prabi, Niki, Kendra, and Cassidy, quickly got to work. The first challenge was simply getting everyone on the same page, literally. Sharing the presentation document and coordinating emails took valuable time.
Once we were all in the Notion document, we began brainstorming AI programs. Remote communication via text chat proved to be less efficient than anticipated. We eventually settled on Phot AI, dividing tasks among the team.
Each team member explored different Phot AI tools, documenting their findings with screenshots in the Notion doc. We utilized Notion’s task list feature to stay organized, checking off completed tasks as we progressed. Notion’s ability to create a shared workspace with to-do lists and the ability to assign tasks to specific team members was a major boon in keeping us on track.
While we managed to complete the presentation on time, remote communication and simultaneous editing within Notion presented challenges. Text chat lacked the immediacy of voice calls, especially during initial brainstorming. Notion’s real-time editing, while convenient, sometimes caused confusion as edits shifted the document layout. It was difficult to follow the flow of the document with multiple people editing at once, and it was sometimes difficult to tell who had made what changes.
Despite these hurdles, we successfully collaborated and delivered the presentation. This experience highlighted the importance of efficient remote communication tools and the need for more intuitive real-time collaboration features in platforms like Notion. While Notion is a powerful tool for remote teamwork, it could benefit from improvements in its real-time editing capabilities to provide a smoother experience for multiple users working on the same document simultaneously.
